ECHOES OF HERITAGE

“The Idrija Lace Collection is Farakaza’s first collection, born from the desire to create pendant lights that carry the soul of Idrija - our hometown’s rich heritage into our home.”

A Fusion of Industrial and Artisanal Heritage

This collection brings together two defining elements of Idrija’s history:

The Rusted Industrial Structures of the Idrija Mercury Mine,

a symbol of resilience, transformation, and the passage of time.

The Elegance of Idrija Lace,

a handcrafted tradition requiring precision and patience, preserved for generations.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Each piece in the collection is crafted from:

Corten steel,

first hand-welded,then naturally aged in the rain for weeks to achieve its characteristic patina.

Reclaimed oak wood,

sourced from historic barns and beams, carefully restored and repurposed.

Idrija lace-inspired patterns

based on patterns from the archives of Idrija Municipal Museum, which holds a vast collection of historic bobbin lace designs.

A wooden box with assorted papers featuring intricate knot designs laid inside. The box is open on a wooden surface with a decorative black wire sculpture in the background.

The unique corten oxidation technique creates a striking contrast between rusted and polished sections, reflecting the delicacy of lace within a robust material. The process requires patience and precision—each pattern is carefully preserved during the rusting phase outside on rain, ensuring that heritage motifs remain visible and permanent.

A Dialogue of Contrasts

The collection is a meeting of opposites.

Warm Wood & Cold Metal

The organic warmth of reclaimed oak contrasts with the industrial resilience of steel.

Robust Corten & Delicate Lace

The softness of lace patterns meets the strength of metal.

Rusted Patina & Silver Reflection

A natural play of light and texture, where oxidation meets polished brilliance.
